In Nellithope Kannara Street, located in Urulayanpet Ward, Puducherry, the drinking water pipelines were laid over 30 years ago. Due to corrosion and frequent breakages, the residents have been facing irregular water supply issues for a long time. Responding to their repeated requests, Urulayanpet Constituency MLA Thiru. G. Nehru (alias Kuppusamy) took proactive steps to address the problem.

As a result of his persistent efforts, the Public Works Department (Public Health and Drinking Water Supply Division) has initiated a pipeline replacement project worth ₹4 lakh in the affected area. The work is currently in progress to install new water pipelines to ensure a smooth and clean water supply for the residents.

On January 30, 2025, MLA G. Nehru personally inspected the progress of the project to ensure the work is being carried out efficiently. He was accompanied by Junior Engineers Venkatesan and Ganesan from the Public Works Department, along with several representatives of the Humanitarian People’s Service Movement and local residents.

The MLA assured the people that he would continue working towards improving essential infrastructure in the constituency and ensuring basic amenities like clean drinking water for all.
